The made in India ‘Train 18’ developed indigenously by the (ICF) Integral Coach Factory, give you a facility of just not only a fast and comfortable mode of transport but also provides safety to travellers as its coaches are fitted with fire-resistance fibre composites and the best thing about this train is that it is India’s 1st Engine-Less Train, Costs only Rs 100 Crore.
According to the information, The interiors of Coach have been made up of composite materials, which are fire resistant. The interiors were made in the country and the ICF gave sourced the (FRP) fibre-reinforced plastics from manufacturers in Chennai and all the panels inside the coaches are built with composite material. the FRP materials which are used in the train are very light as compared to those made of steel and aluminium that help the train to move faster and composite material helps in dropping the maintenance costs of the railways. As compared to coaches made of steel these coaches are more durable.
The new train 18 has a number of features to enhance passenger luxury which include inter-connected fully-sealed gangways, onboard Wi-Fi and infotainment, automatic doors with retractable footsteps, GPS-based passenger information system, rotational seats which can be aligned in the direction of travel (available only in the executive class) modular toilets with bio-vacuum systems, roller blinds and diffused LED lighting, and disabled-friendly toilets.
