Petrol and diesel prices hiked again for the fifth consecutive day on Monday. Today, petrol prices were hiked by 37-40 paise per litre and diesel prices by 49-53 paise per litre.
In the national capital New Delhi, petrol is sold at Rs 70.13 per litre, up 38 paise from yesterday’s price and diesel is priced at Rs 64.18 per litre, up 49 paise.
In Mumbai, petrol is sold at Rs 75.77 per litre and diesel is retailing at Rs 65.73 per litre, respectively.
In Kolkata, petrol is selling at Rs 72.24 per litre and diesel is retailing at Rs 65.95. In Chennai, petrol is sold at Rs 72.79 per litre while diesel is being retailed at Rs 67.78 per litre.
Fuel prices hiked on January 7, and every day from January 10 to January 13. The hike on January 13 was the steepest so far this year.
Brent crude oil rates fell below $60 per barrel today after Chinese data showed weakening imports and exports in the world’s biggest trading nation. Brent crude was trading 1.12 per cent lower at $59.89 per barrel on Monday while the rupee was trading flat at 70.48 per dollar.
