Petrol rates become cheapest in 8 months on Thursday. Today, the petrol price was cut down by 33 paise and diesel by 36 paise.
After today’s price cut, petrol costs Rs 73 in national capital Delhi and diesel was selling Rs 68.13 per litre.
In Mumbai, petrol was retailed at Rs 78.80 per litre while Diesel at Rs 71.33 per litre. In Chennai, petrol was selling at Rs 76.01 per litre while diesel was sold at Rs 71.95per litre.
In Kolkata petrol was sold at Rs 75.24 per litre and diesel was sold at Rs 69.98 per litre. In Bengaluru, petrol was sold at Rs 73.81per litre while diesel was selling at Rs 68.48 per litre.
On October 4, the petrol rate had touched a record high of Rs 91.34 in Mumbai and Rs 84 per litre in Delhi. Diesel rates on that day had peaked to a record high of Rs 80.10 in Mumbai and Rs 75.45 a litre in Delhi.
International oil prices falling to USD 60 per barrel, selling rates of fuel may control easily in the next few days. The retail selling rates of fuel are dependent on the international prices of benchmark petrol and diesel, the rupee-US dollar exchange rate. This is because a large proportion of the country’s requirement is seen through imports.
