Petrol prices were hiked again on Saturday for the third consecutive day with the rising global crude oil prices. Today, petrol price increased by 17-18 paise while diesel become costlier by 19-21 paise per litre across major cities of the country.
In Delhi, petrol today retailed at Rs 70.72 a litre as against Rs 70.55 yesterday while diesel is priced at Rs 65.16 a litre as compared to Rs 64.97 yesterday.
In Mumbai pertrol is sold at Rs 76.35 per litre while diesel is sold at Rs 68.22, 20 paise more than yesterday’s price of Rs 68.02. In Kolkata, petrol is sold at Rs 72.82 per litre while diesel is sold at Rs 66.93 per litre.
In Chennai, petrol increased by 18 paise and is selling at Rs 73.41 compared to Rs 73.23 yesterday. Diesel is selling at Rs 68.83, an increase by 21 paise from Friday’s Rs 66.62 per litre.
International oil rates rallied about 3 per cent on Friday, increased after OPEC outlined production-cut plans to reduce world supply, and on indications of progress in resolving the US-China trade war. In the international oil market, rates have been moving up as Saudi Arabia and Russia hinted they were on track to slash oil production.
