Petrol and diesel rates slashed after remaining unchanged, Fuel rates were again reduced on Thursday with petrol selling at Rs 71.32 per litre, down by Rs 0.40 and diesel selling at Rs 65.96 per litre down by Rs 0.43.
In Delhi petrol was selling at Rs 71.32 while diesel was retailing at Rs 65.96 a litre. In Mumbai, petrol was selling at Rs 76.90 per litre and diesel was selling at 69.02 per litre.
In Kolkata, petrol was retailed at Rs 73.36 per litre and diesel at Rs 67.69 per litre. In Chennai, petrol was selling at Rs 73.99 per litre and diesel Rs 69.63 per litre.
In October, fuel rates are selling at the lowest level since the all-time high. In August, prices were reduced by nearly Rs 12 wiping off the huge hikes in 2 months beginning.
On October 4, the government announced to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 per litre each and asked state-owned fuel retailers to subsidise by another Re 1 a litre.
On October 5, the petrol rate came to fall Rs 81.50 per litre in Delhi and diesel to Rs 72.95 a litre. Petrol price fell to Rs 86.97 per litre in Mumbai and Rs 77.45 for diesel.
