Fuel prices were slashed for the fifth straight day on Monday.
In the national capital Delhi, petrol was selling at Rs 77.56 per litre as against Rs 77.73 yesterday and diesel was selling at 72.31 as against to Rs 72.46 yesterday.
Petrol was selling at Rs 75.87 and diesel was sold at Rs 70.52 in Noida.
In Mumbai, petrol was selling at Rs 83.07, down 17 paise while diesel was priced at Rs 75.76 per litre as compared Rs 75.92 yesterday.
In Chennai, petrol was sold at Rs 80.56 per litre while diesel was sold Rs 76.43 per litre. In Kolkata, petrol was retailing at Rs 79.49 per litre while diesel was retailing at Rs 74.17 per litre.
On October 4, the government announced to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 per litre each and asked state-owned fuel retailers to subsidise by another Re 1 a litre.
