Petrol and diesel prices remained steady on Wednesday after witnessing the sixth consecutive days rise on Tuesday. In the National capital Delhi, petrol is priced at Rs 71.27 per litre and diesel is sold at Rs 65.90 per litre no change compared to yesterday’s rate.
In Mumbai, petrol is selling at Rs 76.90 per litre while diesel is priced at Rs 69.01. In Kolkata, petrol is sold at Rs 73.36 per litre while diesel is sold at Rs 67.68 per litre. Prices of petrol and diesel were Rs 73.99 and Rs 69.62 a litre in Chennai.
Petrol and diesel prices in India are dependent on the international crude rates and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate as the country imports 80 per cent of its crude requirements.
In the international oil market, crude rates stabilised on Wednesday after sharp drop in the previous session, when markets were dragged down amid growing concerns about an economic slowdown. International Brent crude oil futures were trading at $61.58 per barrel, up 8 cents, or 0.1 per cent, from their past close.
