The market involves two sub-markets namely Bada Sarafa Bazaar and Chhota Sarafa Bazaar. Indore’s Sarafa Bazaar is a famous tourist place because of its food and night lifestyle.

The market created as the central jewellery market in the city of Indore. Situated 2 Km from Indore’s central marketplace Rajwada, Sarafa was the central trading point for artefacts, ornaments and jewellery.

Due to its place and a large number of customers and visitors, street food vendors started putting stalls and selling fast-food, snacks and chaat. Eventually, street food vendors were allowed to put stalls after 8 PM (after the jewellery market closes) till morning.

Sarafa is likewise the place of origin of Bada Sarafa Cotton Association, Indore and Madhya Pradesh Sarafa Association. Sarafa Bazaar and the Rajwada suburb are certain as the regions to be developed under the initiative.

The Indore Municipal Corporation and Indore Development Authority have started working on underground channels for the above cables in the region. The jewellery market at Sarafa Bazaar is also popular among those involved in gold investments.

In fact, Sarafa is renowned as a daytime jewellery market and nigh time khauGalli (meaning eatery street)! Indore Sarafa Bazaar is traditionally popular for its Gold & Silver jewellery, etc. like any other city’s jewellery marketplace, but what may be maybe unique to Indore’s Sarafa Bazaar is the exciting fact that it turns into a street-food lover’s paradise every single night (after 8 pm till way past midnight) Parking is not available in the marketplace, though there are spaces before entering the marketplace from all 4 sides.

As this is in the old city, paths are very narrow and criminals do get their two-wheeled vehicles that disturb people here And you’ll have to be careful of the stray cattle (cows) and dogs that go around in the marketplace. Indore Police’s station is right there in the marketplace and CCTV cameras covered the whole market at day and night.
