Petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged on Wednesday across major cities of the country. Today, the petrol price is sold at Rs 68.65 and diesel is priced at Rs 62.66 per litre in the national capital Delhi.
In Mumbai, petrol is sold at Rs 74.30, no change compared to yesterday’s price and diesel is priced at Rs 65.56 per litre. In Kolkata, petrol is priced at Rs 70.78 per litre and diesel is sold at Rs 64.42. Petrol in Chennai is sold at Rs 71.22 per litre while diesel is priced at Rs 66.14.
It may be noted that fuel rates depend on both international crude price and rupee-dollar exchange rate. Fuel rates are likely to drop further in the coming days as oil rates cut down on Wednesday on the back of surging US crude production and concerns about an economic slowdown in 2019. Brent crude futures were at $53.47 per barrel, cheap 33 cents, or 0.6 per cent, from their final close of 2018. The Indian rupee has also appreciated against the US dollar.
