Petrol, diesel prices were hiked again for the second straight day on Friday as international crude rates continued to rally. Today, diesel prices became higher by 18-32 paise per litre across major cities of the country.
In the National capital Delhi, petrol is retailing at Rs 69.07 as against Rs 68.88 per litre yesterday and diesel is priced at Rs 62.81, 28 paise higher than Thursday’s price of Rs 62.53.
In Mumbai, petrol price at Rs 74.72, up 19 paise as against yesterday’s price of Rs 74.53 while diesel became higher by 30 paise to Rs 65.73.
In Chennai, petrol is sold at Rs 71.67 as against Rs 71.47 on Thursday. Diesel is retailing at Rs 66.31 per litre. In Kolkata, petrol is retailing at Rs 71.20 as against Rs 71.01 on Thursday and diesel is sold at Rs 64.58 on Friday.
Crude rates edged higher on Thursday, supported by commentaries from the US Federal Reserve chairman, but gains were capped as optimism surrounding US-China trade talks faded.
On Friday, crude prices cut down marginally and international Brent crude futures were trading 0.21% lower at $61.55 per barrel. Despite today’s price drop, Brent crude is set for weekly gains over 7 per cent.
