Chandigarh – On night of Thursday, Gold and diamond jewelry worth lakhs were stolen from a jewelry shop in Sector-23.
In a complaint to police, Pintu Meeda, on Thursday around 8 pm, a resident of Rajpura, has stated that he, along with his partner, closed the shop. on Friday morning, when they came to open it, they found the shutter broken and jewelry (gold and diamonds) worth lakhs missing from almirah kept on first floor of shop.
The police have listed a case under Section 380 of the IPC at the Sector 17. Meanwhile, CCTV footage obtained by cops revealed that 3 persons came in an auto-rickshaw and 2 of them entered shop. One of steals was wearing a helmet while other had enclosed his face with a piece of cloth. After theft ornaments, they escaped scene in auto.
Sources said cops had picked up 2 workers of shop for enquiring. During preliminary questioning, they confessed to their involvement in robbery. They said their 3rd accomplice had escaped with the loots.
