LUDHIANA: A woman died after being shot at allegedly by snatchers near Biza last night. She has been identified as Radhika (48), a resident of Tajpur Road, Ludhiana. The police have registered a case against unknown persons.
The woman, along with her husband Rakesh Gaba, was returning from Chandigarh. When they reached near Biza village, her husband stopped the SUV to answer nature’s call. In the meantime, 2 motorcycle-borne persons reached there and snatched Rs 25,000 from Rakesh.
They also tried to snatch a gold chain from the woman. When she resisted, one of the snatchers took out a revolver and fired at her.
Rakesh informed the police that the woman was rushed to Apollo Hospital, Ludhiana, where she succumbed to injuries in this evening.
Sadar SHO Baljinder Singh said they had registered a case under Section 302 and 392, IPC, and 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against unidentified persons. Radhika’s body has been kept in the morgue for post-mortem.
Khanna SP (I) Jasvir Singh said the police were scanning footage of the CCTV cameras installed nearby the crime scene. The dead is survived by her husband, 2 sons and a daughter.
She resisted snatching
