Valuables worth Rs 2.8 crore stolen from private bus


Valuables weighing around 8.5 kg and valued at around Rs 2.8 crore were stolen from a duo in a private bus on its way to Bengaluru from Vizag on Saturday morning, when the bus had stopped at a roadside hotel near Bangarupalem, 25 km from here.

The incident came to light in Mumbai when the owner of a jewellery mart approached the police, lodging a complaint at the police station.

Police said that Sanjay and Kedar belonging to Mumbai were carrying the gold to Bengaluru in the private bus. One of them got down when the bus stopped for breakfast at a roadside hotel.

When the bus restarted its journey and it was found that the bag containing gold ornaments was stolen. The duo searched the bus and the hotel surroundings.

Later, the duo had reportedly left for Bengaluru. The police registered a complaint and analyse the CCTV camera footage. The police visited the crime spot and nab the offenders.
