Bicholim: Unidentified persons entering into Shri Vetal Maharudra temple at Mulgaon-Bicholim on Tuesday night by damaging a window grill and escaped with valuables and cash value at around Rs 2.81 lakh.
The offenders also broke into the Devasthan office and sped away valuables including gold and silver ornaments. The deposit box was found broken open and cash from it missing.
The complaint was lodged at Bicholim police station by a Devasthan committee member, the police visited the temple and conducted an investigation.
According to police, a sword ‘Prabhaval’ made of silver, gold-coated eyes of Vetal idol, some parts of the silver door border and other ornaments, cash, have been stolen.
The offenders also broke open the office of Devasthan and escaped with valuables. The stolen items, including cash worth around Rs 2.81 lakh.
Police have registered a robbery case against unidentified persons.
