PUNE: On Sunday, Valuables and cash, valued Rs1.97 lakh, were stolen from five cars parked in Kothrud and Swargate areas. The police noticed one of the five thefts with the arrest of 2 suspects. The police are searching whether the same duo was involved in other incidents as well. The detained duo has been identified as 40-year-old Sikandar Shaikh and 35-year-old Kailas Dhade, both from Kothrud.
On Sunday, around 8.30pm suspects Shaikh and Dhade entered the buildings of Niranjan Bhusnale’s residential building on Paud Road. They broke the window pane of his Wagon R and escape with Rs7,000, display camera and sarees, together valued Rs 21,500. Police checked the CCTV footage in the area and took the accused into custody.
2 more occurrences of thefts from cars were reported to Kothrud police. Unknown suspects smashed the windows of 2 cars parked near the (ARAI) Automotive Research Authority of India and made off with debit/credit cards, a gold ring and two cellphones. The thefts occurred between 7am and 7.45am when car owners Bhushan Rewatkar, attended by his relative, and Ajinkya Deshpand, along with his 2 friends, were out for the morning walk. the police were searching whether suspects Shaikh and Dhade were involved in burglaries on the hillock too.
2 incidents of burglaries from 2 cars were stated from Swargate area. A bag comprising the gold ornaments, valued Rs1.05 lakh, was stolen from Pornima Shah’s car parked in CPWD colony. Accused broke open the window pane of a car parked in the area and stole Rs5,000. a search has been launched for the accused.
