A TSRTC liaison officer was arrested for theft a bag containing ornaments at a temple in the city on Sunday.
Police said that K Sammaiah (50), a TSRTC liaison officer, Balanagar, committed the theft in front of Yellamma Temple at Balkampet. He works at Hyderabad Central University bus depot, Gachibowli.
The police officers arrested the accused and 7 tolas of gold ornament and one mobile phone were recovered from his possession. He along with his family members had gone to attend a function at Yellamma Temple in Balkampet on December 12.
According to the police, he came to the parking after attending the function and observed that one bag was kept on his motorbike. When he opened the bag and found that some gold ornaments and one cell phone.
Immediately, he took the bag and drove away from the place along with the bag which contained 7 tolas of gold ornaments including a necklace, long chain, ear earrings, finger ring, small chain and small finger rings and one mobile phone.
On Sunday, when he came to Maithrivanam at Ameerpet to sell the stolen valuables, police arrested him along with stolen property. The accused was handed over to SR Nagar police station for further investigation.
