The police have Recovered 65 Tolas of gold valuables which are valued around Rs 16 lakh with the arrest of kaveti Alivelu of Adinarayanapuram in Chirala mandal of Prakasam district.
According to police, she Acts as a traveller, she cut the handbags of bus passengers and stole gold valuables, and was arrested while moving about suspiciously near a gold showroom at Nandikotkur.
On her admission that she sold 10 tolas of gold valuables to a Central Crime Station constable of Ongole, an inquiry has been initiated, police said.
Police said Kaveti Adinarayana, his wives Kaveti Varalakshmi and Kaveti Alivelu, Sivaleela, Nagamma, Karreddula Vamsi and Edukondalu formed a gang and stole gold valueables from passengers in Addanki, Chirala and Ongole in Prakasam district, Nandikotkur and Atmakur in Kurnool district, Kadapa and Mydukur in Kurnool district and Venkatagiri in Nellore.
They were suspect in 11 cases, including in 4 cases Nandikotkur police station 3 cases in Atmakur police station. A special team kept watch after a passenger Sivaratnamma complained that her gold was stolen from her handbag, when she travelled from Kurnool to Nandikotkur last year.
