DEOGARH, Odisha: On Wednesday, 6 persons were detained by police for their involvement in looting the house of former sarpanch Khetrabasi Dalabehera at the Singhasal village.
Deogarh SP said the accused are Jagannath Majhi, Bikash Lugun, Nanda Oram, Sanjay, Santosh Patra and Kiran Kumar Sahu. All of them belong to the Sundargarh district.
On October 24 night, criminals had entered the residence of Behera and asked him and his family members to hand over keys of lockers at gun and sharp weapons point. They then looted jewellery, cash and escaped after locking the family members from outside. The family was rescued by the neighbour.
On Wednesday, police detained the 6 accused and seized a few stolen articles besides, a country made pistol and car from their control. The seized articles include 1 gold chain, a piece of melted gold weighing around 16 gram and cash of Rs 20,000.
