Gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh were seized from a courier boy at Nagpur Railway Station. The youth was behaving in a suspicious manner and hence they arrested him, police said.
The youth was identified as Jayesh Kumar Mishra (26), a resident of Sudam Lane, Itwari. During his questioning the youth could not provide acceptable answers and checking of the bag yielded gold and diamond studded jewellery.
Police said that the parcel was collected from Khandelwal Logistic Courier Company of Mumbai and similar was picked up at Railway station. The parcel arrived from Mumbai by Train. As there was no correct papers for ID RPF recovered the material.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) later informed the Income Tax Department (ITD) about the interruption of a courier and handed over to them.
The total value of jewellery is at Rs.30.44 lakh. During the year, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has intercepted such courier containing gold and diamond jewellery valued at Rs. 2.6 crores in five cases.
