Vadodara: On Wednesday, Jewellery valued Rs 5.7 lakh were reportedly stolen after thieves broke into 2 houses located in Vasna Road and Tandalja in western part of the city.
According to the 1st complaint lodged at Gotri area police station by Shaila Choksi, thieves broke into her residence sometime between 27 and 30 April, finding the residence empty as she was away in Ahmedabad. Police said that burgles stole precious gold and pearl jewellery worth Rs 2.2 lakh kept locked in a safe in Choksi’s bedroom.
The 2nd theft took place at Vrajvihar Society in Tandalja at the residence of Kasam Ghanchi, who claimed that thieves broke into the residence when Ghanchi and his family had gone to join a wedding on Jambusar Road. Upon their return, they see that the lock on the door broken and precios jewellery valued Rs 3.5 lakh missing from the safe. According to JP Road police Ghanchi had left the safe’s key on the top of almirah making it easy for the burgles to steal the ornaments.
