Man arrested; silver idol recovered in connection of Mumbai temple theft


Mumbai – On Tuesday, A 48-year-old man, who stole a 5-kilogram silver idol from Jain temple in Dadar 2 months ago, was detained, after police officers traced him with aid of CCTV footage. The police also recovered the stolen the idol.

The accused is identified as Ramesh Parulekar, had stolen the silver idol of Munisuvrat Nath, on the   March 26 from the Dadar temple. Police had registered a case of theft and made a team controlled by a senior police inspector, and started their investigation.

Using the temple’s CCTV footage, police established the identity of suspect, and later, with the help of sources police got to know that the accused was a drug addict and used to visit Reti Bunder every day,” police laid a trap in Mahim and detained Parulekar,

Parulekar admitted to his crime and according to police, had sold it to a milk vendor named Mangilal for Rs 1.2 lakh. police recovered the idol from Mangilal’s home but could not find him.
