The main accused behind the robbery of gold jewellery approximately worth ₹98.05 lakh on January 7 from 2 employees of famous “Kalyan Jewellers” on the Salem-Kochi Highway near K.G. Chavadi has been taken into custody by the special investigation team.
According to the police, Firoz, a belonging of Kerala, was detained by the Tamil Nadu Police with support from the A.P police.
He was previously involved in a hawala money robbery case during transit in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
According to the special information, Firoz and 9 others involved in the highway robbery will be taken to Coimbatore after the recovery of jewellery valued 350 sovereigns and also 243.320g of silverware. on January 9, 2 other alleged collaborators give up before a court in Chennai. The Tamil Nadu police were allegedly told by their counterparts in AP that Firoz did not have all of the loot.
