MUMBAI: Santacruz police, who detained 2 peoples from Bulandshahr (UP) on Friday after precious gold ornaments worth Rs 8 lakh were stolen from a businessman Pradeep Gala’s 51 flat on 15 March, were assisted by a message that a domestic help named Vanita Gaikwad, received from suspect Narmada alias Asha alias Sangeeta alias Deepa Soyeb Khan (32). Police tracked down Narmada after she sent selfie to her friend, in which she had worn stolen stuffs.
Narmada was uninformed about Gaikwad’s detention for a similar theft last month. “After checking the number belonged to Narmada, who worked at Gala’s flat for 2 hours on March 15, police found her travelling to Uttar Pradesh.
She snapped the selfie in the train while leaving the Mumbai city. The team got facts on Narmada, wanted in at least 12 stealing cases, from her WhatsApp profile. Photos of 2 her children and the unchanging badges helped us find they were in a public school.
