Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh -Customs officers at the Visakhapatnam International Airport have detained a traveller from Dubai on charges of smuggling gold weighing 1.2 kg cost at Rs. 33.74 lakh.
on Sunday The traveller, who inwards by an Air India flight, was stopped leading to seizure of the yellow metal. The traveller allegedly tried to smuggle the gold by hiding it in the shoes and wrapping around waist in the form of gold paste on Monday.
The seizure was possible because of concerted profiling of travellers, constant vigil and sustained hard work put in by the Customs officials, he said. 3 Malaysian nationals from Kuala Lumpur by flight number AK083 were caught on 8 August while trying to smuggle 900 gm of gold.
