Gold jewellery worth Rs 22 lakh stolen from two houses


CHENNAI: Around 82 sovereigns of gold jewellery valued at 22 lakh was robbed from two houses on Friday in Ayanavaram and Villivakkam.

According to the police, Arun Kumar,(38), of Agasthiar Street, owns a rice wholesale store near his store. A few days ago he and his wife went to a marriage function.

On Friday evening, when they returned home and found gold jewellery was stolen.

Arun lodged a complaint at the Villivakkam police station. And he told the police that somebody had entered into the house during the day in their absence and escaped with around 52 sovereigns of gold jewellery.

In the second case, Karthikeyan,(45), a resident of Ayanavaram, owns a supermarket at Kellys. On Friday night, he and his wife returned home and found the door of the house opened.

The found around 30 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen from the house. They registered a case at the Ayanavaram police station.
