TRICHY: 2 masked men stole the gold ornaments worth Rs 13cr from Lalitha Jewelry store near Chathiram Bus Stand in Trichy in early hours of Wednesday after gaining entry into it by drilling a hole on the wall. Theft came to light when the staff opened shop in morning.
CCTV footage showed 2 men wearing the fancy animal masks stealing precious gold ornaments. The theft happened between 2am and 3am.
Lalitha Jewelry CMD Kiran Kumar told reporters here in evening that precious gold, diamond and platinum ornaments value Rs 13 cr were stolen. Forensic experts were collecting the samples from spot.
It is the 2nd major burglary in Trichy after one at Punjab National Bank in the month of January. 3 lockers at PNB were broken and Rs 19 lakh in cash, 470 sovereigns of yellow metal and documents were stolen.
