VIRUDHUNAGAR: On Saturday, nearly 80 sovereign precious gold jewels went missing from a residence in Sivakasi here.
The police sources said, 50-year-old Rajalingam, is a resident of Karupanan Street at Sivakasi taluk in Virudhunagar district.
A few months back, Rajalingam’s wife Rajarathinam took all 80 sovereign jewellery from a residence and placed them in a wooden box and kept it in a room at 1st floor of their residence. On Saturday evening, when Rajalingam went to same room, he noticed that wooden box was missing.
Rajalingam who was shocked queried Rajarathinam about whereabouts of wooden box however she was also not aware of it. Following this, Rajalingam lodged a complaint with police station. The Sivakasi East police have listed a case and are inspecting.
On Sunday, in another incident, 28 sovereign precious gold jewels were burgled from a residence in Sivakasi.
73-year-old Madasamy, is a resident of Standard Colony at Thiruthangal near Sivakasi. On Friday night Madasamy and his whole family members went to temple at Tiruchendur in Tuticorin district. On their return the on Sunday morning, they noticed that front door lock of his residence broke open.
When Madasamy went inside his residence, he noticed that 28 sovereign precious gold jewels which was kept in a box near the puja room was lost. Based on complaint, Thiruthangal police have listed a case and are conducting inquiries.r
