Nashik: On Monday evening, A woman (43) lost her gold made chain valued Rs20,000 to chain snatchers in Indiranagar area of the city.
According to the Indiranagar police, the woman is a resident of Ravishankar Marg and she had gone to Rath Chakra Chowk market with her mother-in-law to buy the flowers for Dasara.
“At 8 pm, when women were returning residence, 2 bike-borne suspects approached them from behind and snatched gold chain before fleeing towards the Sainath Nagar junction,” an officer from Indiranagar police station said.
Indiranagar area witnesses a large number of chain-snatchings as it is located along Mumbai-Agra highway and criminals find it easy to escape after doing crime.
In view of the cases of chain snatching they have deployed additional police in Indiranagar to keep a check on the chain snatchers. Meanwhile, police arrested 4 chain snatchers in the last week of September and recovered gold jewelry and 2 motorcycles worth Rs 10.27 lakh from them.
