Gold & cash seized by the income tax department in west Bengal

West Bengal: After few days of search conducted by the income tax officials in disguise Rs 1.5 crore of unaccounted cash and 8 kg of gold worth Rs 2.63 crore has been seized from hawala operators in West Bengal, on Thursday.

The IT officials further informed that they had a suspicion regarding activities of unaccounted cash, and gold trading  being carried out at Burra Bazar area and nearby places, as a result of which , more than Rs 1.5 crore in cash and 8 kg of gold biscuits worth Rs 2.63 crore have been seized  in two days from hawala operators and unaccounted gold traders.

During the search and seizure operation conducted, several criminal, physical and electronic evidences are also seized.

As a result of it, the IT officials have so far seized over Rs 28.77 crore of unaccounted cash, jewelry and bullion from West Bengal after the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.
