Mumbai – On Thursday, The CISF seized precious gold bars valued around Rs 11.12 lakh hidden in a pair of slippers of a traveler at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
CISF officials said, the seizure occurred around 7.20 am when CISF Assistant Sub Inspector saw the presence of metal in the lower part of the body of a traveler during the pre-embarkatation security checked at the security hold area of the Terminal 2.
The traveler was asked to remove his slippers and pass them through X-BIS machine for x-ray showing. During the transmission, high density metal images were marked inside the sole of slippers that the travelers was wearing. On bodily checking, 2 gold bars weighing around 381 grams and valued Rs 11.12 lakh were recovered from Rahat Ali (Accused), an Indian national who inwards from Bahrain on Go Air flight No. G8-056 at 4.55 am and was made-up to fly to Delhi by Vistara Airlines flight No. UK-994.he can not produce any legal document for the precious gold.
