A businessman and his family were held hostage at gunpoint for nearly 2 hours on Monday night in Dankaur and burgled of jewellery, cash and electronic items.
According to the police, Satpal Singh (45), who lives with his wife and son. Satpal own a factory of electronic spare parts in the industrial area of Greater Noida.
Police said that around 8.30pm, two men in late night came to his house and asked for water. When Satpal returned with a water bottle and tried to hand it over to them, two men pushed him inside his house.
The thieves flashed a pistol and pushed Satpal inside the house. Four other thieves also barged in and locked the front door of the house. Later, one of them took him at gunpoint and accused searched the house till 11pm. They escaped with Rs 50,000 in cash, ornaments valued at Rs 10 lakh and an LED TV.
Satpal told the police that he was beaten up by the thieves for trying to resist the theft. When the two men flashed guns at him, Satpal held their hands and pointed the pistol towards the sky. A case has been registered against six unidentified thieves.
