Bathinda – On Wednesday, The Bathinda police busted a gang involved in committing fraud with people across the 3 states of Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana as girls from this gang were married to persons only to flee with cash and jewelry belonging to these families after wedding.
Police said, that they got a tip-off that around 10-12 persons have made a gang who pose as families of girl and get their gang girl married to person. After marriage, they demand money from them or girl runs away from groom’s house by stealing money, gold and silver jewelry.”
After getting the info, the police have registered a case under Sections 494, 495, 380, 420 and 120-B of the IPC at Civil Lines police station.
The SP claimed that acting on an info, police detained 5 members of the gang — Jagsir Singh, Mohinder Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Amarjot Kaur and Shinder Kaur — from Mati Dass Nagar in Bathinda.
The SP said accused Kulwinder Kaur had conducted around 5 marriages in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan while Shinder Kaur, Mohinder Kaur and Amarjot Kaur had married around 10-15 times. Jagsir Singh and others would pose as their families.
