PUNE: On Tuesday police claimed to have solved 4 chain-snatching cases, following arrest of 2 youths and recovery of 105g of gold ornaments and a motorcycle, collectively worth Rs 4.82 lakh, from them.
The police recognized suspects as 20-year-old Arman Nanawat of Vadu near Pune and Dhanraj 19-year-old Sherwat of Sanaswadi. “While checking the CCTV footages in Wakad, police team zeroed in on a suspicious motorcycle,” senior inspector Satish Mane of Wakad police said.
During patrolling, police noticed a same motorcycle heading towards Wakad from Kaspate Vasti. “We took its rider and pillion into custody after a brief chase,” Mane said.
After inspection, it was found that motorcycle had 2 registration numbers, including temporary 1 on its rear number plate. “both then admitted of stealing 4 gold made chains from Wakad area in past few months,” the police officer said.
The duo also revealed involvement of one accomplice from Shirur in chain-snatching cases. “We have recovered 105 gm of gold made ornaments from them. Our probe is on,” police said.
