Trichy: Customs seized 559 grams of gold rods from a passenger who arrived at the Trichy international airport from Singapore.  A Passenger carried the yellow metal stuffed inside six marker pens in the shape of rods.

Customs officials said, when officials checked luggage of  N Narayanan, (50) after he landed in Tiruchirappalli yesterday night. They then found the gold was kept hidden in marker pens.

Officials seized six rectangular-shaped gold rods, all of the 24ct purity and it weighed totally 599gms worth Rs 19.10 lakh from the passenger.

They detained the gold and further investigations were on.
