Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch squad probing death of noted violinist Balabhaskar would take the declarations of his former programme coordinator Prakash Thambi, who was detained by the (DRI) Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for the gold smuggling via Thiruvananthapuram airport.
On Monday, officers would give custody request for Thamby in court. The Crime Branch intensified their probe into violinist’s death in car accident in the month of September 2018 after Prakash’s capture last month.
The officers would also take statements of Balabhaskar’s father Unni, who raised claims against smuggling gang. Unni requested Crime Branch to check if Prakash and his assistant Vishnu had any role in his son’s death. The Crime Branch has collected info from DRI officers who are probing gold smuggling case. DRI has found that Prakash had led several foreign trips after the Balabhaskar’s death. Another accused in smuggling case, Vishnu, who also synchronized Balabhaskar’s programmes, is currently escaping
