Visakhapatnam: one more chain snatching case was reported from the city on Friday. All the crimes were allegedly committed by two youngsters under Airport, Gopalapatnam and Pendurthi police stations limits in the city.
On Friday, the cases took place between 8:45 am to 9:45 am. women targeted by motorbike-borne criminals at five places in the city.
In the first incident, Padmavathi alias Manga a resident of Susarla Colony, under Airport police station limits, was robbed of her 80 gm gold chain as two youngsters on a bike (Bajaj Pulsar) followed her and snatched her gold chain from her neck. The incident took place while Padmavathi was on her way to a temple. The biker was wearing a helmet and the pillion rider had covered his face, with a cloth.
In another incident, Lalitha Kumar, coming under Airport police station limits was robbed of her 60-gram gold chain by the same gang at Baji Junction area. Another woman was robbed of her 36-gram gold chain at Prahladhapuram area under Gopalapatnam police station limits.
ADCP (Crimes) V. Suresh Babu said that the gang robbed over 240 grams of gold ornaments in the five incidents. We have collected the CCTV camera footage of the two suspects avoidance from the spots after committing the crime.
