Hyderabad: In a peculiar case at the Rachakonda commissionerate, on Friday, a court acquitted 4 persons who were held for robbing a woman, but convicted a person caught in with stolen gold chain. court sentenced him to 1-year rigorous imprisonment and 500 Rs penalty.
A case of robbery was listed at Adibatla police station during the month February 2018, based on a police complaint from 45-year-old Ganugu Yadamma, of Surajnagar Colony in Thurkayamjal.
According to the Rachakonda police, on 25 February, 2018, when Yadamma was on her way to a relative’s residence, 2 unidentified persons on a bike snatched her gold made chain weighing 4.5 tolas.
Rajendranagar police apprehended 4 persons for theft. Based on their confession that they had robbed a lady at Thurkayamjal, Adibatla police detained them. They confessed to have sold gold made chain to Amul Kolekar, a resident of Shalibanda, and it was recovered from him.
After completion of the investigation, case was charge-sheeted before 18th Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Maheshwaram, which after a trial, acquitted suspects for lack of proof and convicted 27-year-old Amul Kolekar, for dishonestly receiving stolen the property.
According to the Police from Rachakonda, “Victim could not identify suspects as they were wearing masks at time of offence. But she identified man from whom gold chain was recovered. court has acquitted suspect and convicted receiver Amul Kolekar.”
