The Income Tax department seized cash, gold bars, diamonds worth Rs 11.7 crore from Bowring Institute’s lockers in Bengaluru. The secretary of the club has confirmed that the seizures have been made from three lockers , an elite club.
The secretary of the club said that the authorities had observed that the lockers attached to the tennis court in the club had not been in use for long, following which the decision to get them opened was made.
The police were informed after six bags were seized from inside the lockers. The authorities were asked to approach the Income Tax department.
On Friday, the officers had visited the badminton club. Rs 3.90 crore in cash, diamonds worth around Rs 7.80 crore, gold bars weighing about 650 grams were found from inside the bag. A Rolex watch and another watch worth about Rs 35-40 lakh were also recovered.
