BSNL Copper cables worth Rs 20 lakh stolen


Amritsar- On the intervening night of April 28 and 29 underground copper cables of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited were stolen and the police also arrested one person in relation to this case. the accused was identified as Barsa Singh from Koharka village in Tarn Taran. A JCB machine, he was driving, has been seized. police is on the hunt for the other criminals.

The burgles took away two underground 800 metres copper cables of from Guru Nanak Dev Hospital to ESI Hospital.

According to police, this burglary caused financial loss of Rs 20 lakh to the BSNL. according to police the owner of the JCB machine would be interrogated.

The incident got known when BSNL employees Hardeep Singh, Hemant Kumar and Ashwani Kumar and while coming back from a marriage ceremony, saw the accused pulling out copper cables. When they opposed them, the accused said that they are employees of a firm under Tata and had been allocated some task.

Not satisfied with this, when the BSNL employees said about this incident to their higher-ups, the accused escaped away with the copper cable. The driver of the JCB was nabbed who was given to the police.
