3 arrested for snatching jewellery, phones

Madurai: The city police have detained 3 people including 2 teenagers in the connection with snatching cases involving the mobile phones and gold jewelry. A team from the Teppakulam station arrested accused within 24 hours after they were involved in a couple of mobile phone snatching events in police limits.

The three was involved in 6 robbery incidents in the various police limits. Apart from a couple of mobile  robbery incidents in the Teppakulam, they were involved in gold chain snatching incidents in Vilakkuthoon police limit and 1 mobile phone robbery incidents in Karimedu, South Gate and Thilagar Thidal police station limits.

The accused were recognized as 23-year-old Salman Khan, from Villapuram Housing Board, 19-year-old Abdul Rahman, from Nelpettai and 18-year-old Mohammed Ansari, from Seeniravuthar Thoppu. Gold jewelry weighing 4 sovereigns and 5 mobile phones were seized from them.

According to city police, CCTV footage obtained from 1 of the incident spots in the Teppakulam police limit has helped find vehicle’s registration number. Based on it, address of one of accused was traced.
